In my quest to move out of India for higher education, I recently took the GMAT and got a 760 which is pretty good. I now need to start applying to different colleges across the world. Just the application fee for each college is about 200 to 250 dollars (or euros) and I'm planning to apply to about 10 different places. There go my savings.

To add to this, assuming I don't get a scholarship (which is likely with the economic crisis), I'll need to take a loan of about 150,000$ if I go to a US college and about 50,000 euro if I go to a European college. The Canadians apparently feel that someone who is not an engineer from India cannot be a good manager since they've put engineering as a requirement for admission to a B-school.

On the bright side, the average salary after passing out from an Ivy league or top 10 college is over a 100,000 USD annually so I guess I'd be able to pay back said loan in 5 years.


I really really want to study in INSEAD in France. It's one of the top 10 colleges in the world and everytime I hear a french accent, I get butterflies in my tummy.

Just an update in general.

I've heard tell that you have to spend money to make money so the expenses you'd be acquiring would put you in a later position to go beyond a payday to payday job. As long as you have the opportunity to do something you want to do and have the ambition to complete it I'd think it would be a wise investment. Plus you have a great support system in your family as well as your friends.
Just don't forget about us little people when you gooooooo!!!!!!!!!
