I would like to make a benchmark thread comparing PC benchmarks using a neat tool called Ashampoo Winoptimizer 6. It is free for 30 days and you can remove it after you are finished pretty easy.
It will scan your PC for registry fixes and optimize settings for performance.
Download the program and install:
http://ashampoo-winoptimizer.en.softonic.com/downloadDo the full scan and then "Start Optimization". When it finishes do a reboot and then open the program again, goto MODULES then DIAGNOSIS & INFORMATION. You will now see "System benchmark" on the third tab down on the right hand side. Click it and then "Run benchmark".
Try and run it with little or no programs running and don't use the computer for 5 minutes while it finishes.
When its done click "Compare results online" and then take a screenshot of that page paste into "paint" or similar photo editor and post it to this thread. You will now have a fully tuned PC and a performance benchmark.
Here's the Winoptimizer 6 benchmark for my new HP HDX 16 notebook pc attached. This is the Windows Vista 64 benchmark I will post back with the XP one later and note any difference. Most people expect to loose points when switching from XP to Vista due to the higher system overhead of Windows Vista.
Winoptimizer Vista 64 point score: 129,466
Second benchmark is 3dmark06 video and subsystem benchmark. I posted it mostly for my own record and future comparison. It is a rather large benchmark program 500M so I am not going to post it, if inclined you can find it online.
Third benchmark is Winoptimizer 6 score on Windows XP 32 bit.
XP 32bit Winoptimizer point score: 138,137
Finally my 3Dmark06 scores these tests are very intensive on your video system and subsystem for those who want to look at my score on the HP HDX 16 on Windows XP seen in the last attachment. I personally feel the visuals are better in Vista dispite the score differences. I am still able to make the GUI look like Windows XP also.
Note: Higher point score is better
