"Open Toward the Heart that Used to Hold Mine"

I sit and see my hands before me
Open toward the heart that used to hold mine
Blind to me, I thought I'd never see you this way
So far, so far
Close as my breath, but yet
So far

You've left me to my own devices
You've worn out all disguises
Hidden all the remnants
I still hold a string or two
Wrapped around a thorny rose
A ribbon wound through my bleeding fingers

Would you call me out?
Could I shout your name
And have you hear?
Would you acknowledge
Or just disappear?
A flicker or a dimly lit dawning
Calling, calling
Falling, falling

I sit and see my hands before me
Clasped, fingers twined
In fervent prayer

Could you tell me where this comes from. I have a friend who thought this was a poem and explained that she didn't know who wrote it.

Please tell me. I have no idea and even the power of google and wiki are not helping. Who wrote this? What band?

Like (hopefully) all work on Lyrics and Poetry, it is written by the poster. In this case, it's Nicklz, a very, very oldtimer here. It is possible that either a title or some lines look simular to a known song, but oftentimes this is accidental. With so many songwriters and even more songs in the world today, it's impossible not to stumble across something not unlike a modern or classic song.

Yeah, I wrote it. No music. Just words. If you find something that's like it let me know and I'll see if it's something I'd need to change or not. Or maybe it's something someone else might want to be aware of that's copied me.

Thank you. Are you glad to know that your work is admired by strangers?

Sure am. Strangers are just people I haven't met. Probably won't ever either. But who watches movies and goes to concerts, reads books, and stuff like that? They sure don't know the ones on the stage, screen, or between the pages of a book so it's the same thing to me. Even if no one comments if a few people read my work and it makes them feel something then I'm satisfied.
