Any of you guys like to use a specific brand of instrument cables? I'm getting tired of buying the cheapest one at the guitar store. Time to start buying some decent shit.

I still use the cables I bought back when I started playing guitar like 8 years ago. I should get some new ones...
They're Klotz cables and pretty damn good.

I'd say Monster Cables should do the trick.

Monsters are pretty damn good. I use a mix of fender and peavey's, (i think the one i loaned you was a peavey) simply because theyre durable. Ive had a lot of cables in the past short out on me from stepping on them and such, and i got sick of it

The local guitar stores here like to carry Horizon instrument cables for some reason. In fact, I don't think they carry any other brands.
I wonder if you can really hear the difference between the jazz and rock cables Monster makes.

i forget what brand the cables i bought were. the end on one says GH Industries though. i have 2 20' ones and they both work great. had the one for about 6 years i believe and the other for 4. they've taken a beating and still work. never had a problem with them with the small exception of having to tighten up the end on them once in a while. the end cover screws on and off to access the hardware by the plug, and after repeated use it can come a bit loose i think they were in the $20 or $25 when i bought the first one, and i payed $35 for the second one. there is the slight possibility that they are from different companies, but i doubt it. they have the same sort of design, and the packaging was extremely similar.

CoreX2 and Whirlwinds. I've got a few Whirlwinds I bought about 20 years ago and they work great today.

Whirlwinds are excellent, those are all I use, though I hear that Monsters are great too. Generally all that makes or breaks a cable is quality of construction.
I've never heard of genre specific cables, and if you were to use them in IPS, would you switch cables mid song?

Well I already switch guitars in between songs, so switching cables wouldn't be so far off. I should get an amp and guitar combo ready for each genre.
Does anyone make one of those double guitars except it combines a classical acoustic/electric and an electric guitar?

Never heard of it, though I've also never heard of a classical guitar player playing classically on an electric hybrid. I don't see why you couldn't play it if such a contraption exists though.

I recently bought some Audio Technica patch and the connector broke within a week or 2 so its all bunged now and needs a new end. You can get the fancy copper insulated patch cords but the ends fail on them eventually just like the standard cables. Digitech has pretty good quality cables that arn't overpriced.

closest i've seen is a few ibanez models that they made have a built in acoustic simulator. i heard Wes Borland demo his model one time with it and it actually sounded very much like a standard acoustic guitar. id buy one if i could afford it actually.

Monster cables seem to be the most popular. They have a lifetime guarantee. I had a 12 footer that went bad ater about 5 months of steady use and I walked into Guitar Center where I bought it and they replaced it with a new one...no questions...no receipt. I also have a couple of Live Wire cables and noticed that their website says lifetime guarantee also. They are decent cables but most guitar cables have the cheap level up to the more expensive. Mogami supposedly is one of the best but expensive $$$$$. I would say the best set up is to go buy your own interchangeable end plugs and learn how to repair them yourself. 9 times out of 10 the end plugs are the culprit.
