This beat is bananas

« on: December 10, 2007, 12:28:24 AM »

I have been checking out craigslist lately and they have some pretty cheap pianos on there.  I am really thinking about getting one.  A lot of the ones that I saw were 200-400$ and had normal wear.  Almost every one needed tuning which is no big deal.  I sent an email tonight and can't wait to see if the guy replies.  I will have a piano soon and when I get it i'll post pics.

Took a look at this piano today and liked it.  The guy wants 250$ for it.  I gave him a deposit and I'm picking it up tomorrow.

Brought it home today.  Going to go buy a tuning kit and stuff to clean it up this weekend.

Good luck on trying to tune that thing yourself, it's going to take forever. I recommend that you find someone to do it for you. Usually, tuners will also fix any broken keys that you may have as well. Though, that one looks like it's in pretty good condition, how does it sound?

Sounds fine accept for being out of tune.  It will take a long time to tune but I will have fun doing it and the payoff will be so worth it.  I could pay someone to tune it once for $130 or I can just buy a 60$ tuning kit and do it myself forever.

Very nice.

Sound clips after you tune it?

Nice instrument. My best friend started piano when she started school and now she teaches it. If you can afford it get it tuned professionally sometime. You'll be happier with it. And make sure it has the proper humidity. It cracks me up to hear the pianist at work say she has to water her piano at church. That's if you have dry air where you are.
Good luck with it! It's a beautiful instrument.
