How the hell does it eat batteries more when it's off?

i have no idea.
i just read on a umm, review site, that when the cords r plugged in and its off, it still takes up power.
the reviewers were sayign that that is a really bad flaw.
when i get the pedalboard happenin, i will get a power supply, i just dont want all cords and shit everywhere on stage. how would i work the power supply thing on the pedal board?

Most pedals, if you leave them with a lead plugged into the input will still be drawing power. I'm unaware of one that doesn't.

There's various different multiple power supplies you can get. Like this: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Visual-Sound-1-Spot-Combo-Pack?sku=150373

There's probably some simple multiple power supplies available for quite cheap. Ask at you local guitar shop. I need to get myself a new one, I'm currently just using cheap batteries (3 for £1).

I say buy the Korg DT-10 floor tuner, it's great.

Don't rely on batteries in pedals, buy a power brick.

The TU-2 is better as it's chromatic.

thanks for your help.
i know this may seem like a stupid question, but i am new to the pedal board thing, and it is something i need and don't want to spend a fortune on it, as i am saving for a cab, but can i stick a power board, if that is the right word, with maybe 3 or 4 plug holes, and plug either, the spot 2 adaptor, i think it is..which powers multiple pedals, or plug the 3 or 4 pedal adaptors in the powerboard. im thinking this is a cheaper alternative, but wondering what the quality would be. or can i get my hands on another adaptor that powers 4 or 5 pedals?
thanks.

You probably mean one of these. Wires come with it so you can plug all 9V pedals into it, and that box connects to the mains.

nah like this

and that will go on the back of the board, because its going to be on an angle with a piece of wood or something making it be on an angle, and that powerboard will be stuck on with something. and if i get a one spot adaptor i will use that. or, can i just plug in all of the adaptors that come with the effects??
thanks,

Most pedals that I have didn't come with their own adapters, so you'd have to buy them seperately. The power brick pretty much does the same thing with the added bonus of not having 4 thick mains power cables traipsing all over your pedal board as well.

Right off hand, my son hs a pedal that takes a battery and leaves it out of the pedal because it drains whether it's hooked up to anything or on.
His digital camera, a Sony, is the same way so I either take the batteries out completely or leave it setting in a safe place with the battery cover open so it doesn't make contact.
