Seems like you could achieve a similar effect by just plugging you Pod into a regular valve amp...

Possibly, but because of the EQ controlls on amps and the varied tonality, differnt pod patches will sound poor through different amps. Thats a problem ive experienced so far.

I need to be able to plug my pod into whatever amp im using (i gig in various venues with a ready set up back line, and i cant take my marshall with me every where) and not spend hours fiddling around with the presets.

It seems that it would free the true live potential of the pod, something which i havnt been able to fully utilise.

just interested if anyone had any experiences with them
